Magnetic Business Cards
Magnetic business cards are a great marketing tool. Not only are they inexpensive to create, but they keep your name in front of a customer as they move about the day. Many business customers place magnetic cards on their refrigerator, file cabinet or desk. This makes for a more permanent piece of marketing than traditional business cards, which are often thrown away.
Creating Magnetic Business Cards
1. First you need write the text for your magnetic business card. You can use almost any word processing software for this task.
Many popular word processing programs have business card templates. Templates make creating magnetic business cards much easier because you do not need to do any unnecessary formatting. Simply plug in your information and the formatting is done for you.
If you want to use a custom graphic for your business card, then you need the services of a graphic designer. They can create a customized graphic or logo for your business needs and give it to you as a digital file. You can then add the graphic to any documents you wish, including magnetic business cards. A graphic designer can also completely design your business cards for you for an added charge.

2. Now that you have your magnetic business card designed and typeset, you need to print it. Use card stock that is either white, buff, or another color. If you are using colored card stock, it is best to use black ink. This is because the ink you will be using is semi-transparent and it will create a third color when it is printed on colored paper.
If you have a photograph on your business card, then it will print better on glossy photo paper.
3. With your cards printed, you need to cut them to the correct size for magnetic business cards. The correct or typical size for business cards is 2 inches wide by 3 ½ inches long. If you do not want to be bothered with cutting business cards and you have a relatively small number of cards, you can purchase perforated business card paper to print them on and avoid cutting the cards.
If you want a large number of magnetic business cards created, then a print shop will be able to perform this service for you. Print businesses have cutting machines that are designed to cut large amounts of card stock quickly.
4. Now you need to laminate the magnetic business cards. This will protect the card from wear and tear and moisture. Lamination is a great idea if your business is one that involves food or where your customers will be using the card frequently to get your phone number or name.
5. With the business cards prepared and printed, now you need to have magnetic sheets available for use. You can purchase magnetic sheets from office supply stores. You can find them in large standard paper size of 8 ½ inch wide by 11 inch long or in already cut business card size.
If you are creating a large number of magnetic business cards, then you might consider purchasing magnetic sheets by the roll for easier convenience and better price.
6. Remove the protective backing on the magnetic sheet. This will expose the adhesive coating. Keep the protective backing partially on the sheet as you are working with it in order to stop unwanted things from becoming attached to the magnetic sheet. Only remove enough backing to reveal the portion of magnet that you need at the moment.
7. Place the business cards on the adhesive coating of the magnetic sheet. If you carefully place the printed business cards edge-to-edge, you will be able to use the magnetic sheets more efficiently and get more cards from the magnetic sheets.
If you are utilizing business card size sheets, just place the printed cards on the magnetic sheets. You should not need to trim the edges.
8. Cut the magnetic business cards to the correct size if you are using larger magnetic sheets or rolls.
Magnetic business cards are simple to cut using a scrapbooking photo trimmer, paper cutter, razor knife or scissors.
